Four Styles of Weldable Couplers & Anchor

24/10/2014 · Weldable Coupler - Threaded. This coupler/anchor is penetration welded to its steel member. This is accomplished by being internally threaded with a tapered thread that perfectly matches the rebar thread. Weldable Coupler – Set Screws. For its connection to the steel member, this coupler employs the same penetration weld as the one above.

Welding Threaded Rod - SIDE OF ROD - Practical Machinist

27/11/2013 · If the threaded rod is zinc-plated, you run the risk of nasty metal fume fever from inhaling what burns off as you weld. Breathing filler/flux fumes is annoying. Zinc fumes are toxic. If the threaded rod has been heat-treated (e.g., if you buy "B7" threaded rod), it will probably snap off fairly soon in the heat-affected zones adjacent to the weld.

Welding Considerations for Designers and Fabricators

may be tempted to use a plug weld in the base plate to weld on to the end of the anchor rod. This is a poor idea; plug welds are intended to be loaded in shear, not in tension. When there is insufficient thread for full nut engagement, some may contem-plate welding the nut to the rod. Nuts are always

Welding High Strength Anchor Rods

Threaded Rods There is a blend of art and science in the manufacturing of high-strength steel anchor rods ( ASTM F1554 Grade 105, A325 and A449). Like a pastry chef, creating a perfectly baked soufflé with the correct ingredients and temperature, modern day blacksmiths achieve a balance of strength and ductility characteristics for anchor rods through controlled quenching …
